SINT MAARTEN (SOUTH REWARD) - After a hiatus caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, St. Dominic High School proudly resumed its signature 24-Hour Lesson-a-Thon, held from Friday, November 28 to Saturday, November 29.

The long-awaited return of the beloved event was met with overwhelming enthusiasm, energy, and school spirit as students and teachers came together for 24 uninterrupted hours of learning, creativity, and community engagement.

Designed as both a fundraising initiative and an opportunity to celebrate academic enrichment, the Lesson-a-Thon brought together 28 students and teachers who devoted an entire day to collaborative lessons, activities and serious competition among the four houses: Sr. Maria Goretti, St. Bakhita, St. John Paul II and St. Micheal the Archangel. This year’s theme emphasized resilience, innovation, and togetherness—values that reflect the heart of the St. Dominic community.

The event commenced with a formal etiquette dinner, followed by lively activities such as Welcome/Charades. The Visual Arts Department delivered one of the evening’s highlights with their imaginative “Build the Teacher” challenge, where students used limited materials to design and construct prototype models of their teachers.

The night continued with vibrant contributions from the Physical Education and Sports Department, featuring expressive dances, exercise sessions, and spirited karaoke performances.

After a full night of engagement and creativity, the Lesson-a-Thon concluded with a celebratory gala breakfast at 6:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 29, and the announcement of the winning house team St. Maria Goretti, marking the successful completion of the 24-hour experience.

St. Dominic High School extends heartfelt appreciation to:

  • The talented and resilient participants who dedicated their time and energy;
  • The teachers whose commitment, planning, and expertise brought each activity to life;
  • The parents, for entrusting the school with their child or children for the full 24-hour duration;
  • Local businesses and supporters generously provided goods and services to ensure that the event was seamless, engaging, and joyful.

The return of the 24-Hour Lesson-a-Thon marks a meaningful moment for St. Dominic High School—a celebration of learning, unity, and the enduring spirit of its students and staff. Plans are already underway to make next year’s Lesson-a-Thon even more memorable.
