SINT MAARTEN (COLE BAY) - On Tuesday, September 15, 2026, police patrol officers conducting a routine control encountered a male suspect, identified by the initials K.K.P.Q., who was found to be driving with a false driving license.
The suspect was arrested and transported to the police station, where a statement was taken from him. He was subsequently incarcerated pending further investigation.
During the follow-up investigation, detectives established that the suspect was also wanted in connection with a previous investigation involving threatening a person with a firearm.
In coordination with the Prosecutor’s Office, officers subsequently conducted a search of the suspect’s residence in Cole Bay.
During the house search, officers confiscated four firearms (two supposedly Flare guns) and ammunition. The firearms and ammunition were confiscated, secured and transported to the police station.
The Police Force of Sint Maarten continues to address the illegal possession of firearms and urges members of the public to assist by providing information that could help police identify and remove illegal firearms from the community.
Illegal firearms can be used in criminal activities and can turn situations into potentially life-threatening incidents. Information from members of the community can therefore play an important role in preventing firearms from being used to harm others.
