SINT MAARTEN (GREAT BAY) - Just after 11:00 a.m. on Friday morning August 21, 2026, the Police Dispatch Center received several calls reporting a traffic accident before the roundabout in the area behind the Sint Maarten Medical Center (SMMC).
According to the reports, a Brink’s armored transport truck lost control and overturned on the roadway. Police patrol officers and members of the Traffic Department were immediately dispatched to the scene.
Upon arrival, officers were informed that no one was injured during the incident. The contents being transported by the vehicle were also reported to be safe.
Police officers worked to address the situation and clear the roadway. The accident caused a traffic backup in the area, and motorists were advised to expect delays.
KPSM asked motorists to use alternative routes where possible and to exercise caution while passing through the area.
