Winair Hosts Groundbreaking RABIC Conference, Advancing Seamless Caribbean Travel | SOUALIGA NEWSDAY

SINT MAARTEN (SIMPSON BAY) - Winair proudly hosted the Regional Aviation, Border Interconnectivity Conference (RABIC), marking a pivotal moment in regional cooperation among airlines, airports, and border authorities across the Caribbean.

This first-of-its-kind initiative brought together leaders from airlines, airport authorities, immigration, and customs agencies to open a new dialogue on enhancing regional connectivity and improving the passenger travel experience.

The event featured participation from key aviation and government stakeholders across the region,  including representatives from Antigua, Barbados, Dominica, St. Lucia, the British Virgin Islands, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, St. Kitts and Nevis, Turks and Caicos Islands and St. Maarten, united under one shared mission: to create a seamless, efficient, and passenger-friendly Caribbean travel experience.

“Today marks the beginning of a new chapter in Caribbean aviation cooperation,” said Mr. Hans Van de Velde, CEO of Winair. “By bringing together those who manage our borders, our airlines, and our airports, we are taking the first step toward a more connected, efficient, and traveler-centric region.”

The conference opened with remarks from Hon. Nathalie Tackling, Minister of Justice of St. Maarten, who welcomed delegates and emphasized the importance of collaboration between aviation and border agencies in shaping the future of Caribbean travel.

Throughout the day, discussions focused on harmonizing border processes, strengthening communication between stakeholders, and identifying opportunities for collaboration in aviation and border management. Participants agreed that true regional growth in tourism and trade can only be achieved through partnership and coordinated action.

The success of RABIC reflects Winair’s commitment to regional leadership in fostering dialogue, innovation, and cooperation in Caribbean aviation.

This inaugural meeting sets the foundation for ongoing collaboration and future conferences, where policy makers, airlines and authorities will continue working together to advance the shared vision of a seamless Caribbean travel experience.
