WIB Managing Director Derek Downes says the bank will make comment at a later date.
PHILIPSBURG:---The group of investigators that are investigating some incidents at the Windward Islands Bank are currently on the island.
SMN News understands that two employees from the Cole Bay branch of WIB were fired on Tuesday. According to information provided to SMN News the two female employees, one holding a senior position at the Cole Bay branch had to meet with the group on Thursday, however, by Tuesday she was given a letter of dismissal.
Already two of the bank’s managers have been suspended since the investigation kicked off over a month ago while two tellers resigned. SMN News learnt earlier that the persons that were being investigated, suspended and ultimately dismissed broke some of the bank’s policies.
SMN News managed to reach the managing director of WIB Derek Downes on Wednesday afternoon who said that the bank will issue a statement at a later date. Downes said he will not say anything else for now but assured that the bank will issue a statement through him at some point.
