BTP donates over hundred Christmas gifts to Sister Basilia Center and ICAN Foundation.

btpchristmascheer22122016PHILIPSBURG:–– Management and staff of Bureau Telecommunications and Post St. Maarten visited the Sister Basilia Center and the ICAN foundation to celebrate Christmas with their angels, and to personally hand over Christmas gifts, sports items, educational material, music instruments, computers, tablets and entertainment sets.

The Sister Basilia center is home to over 75 clients with mental and/ or physical disabilities, persons with psychiatric illness, orphans and victims of abuse, while the ICAN Foundation is a foster home that is catering towards 25 children within the age group 4-18. Both organizations are doing a phenomenal job in serving our community by taking care of persons in our society that are facing challenges and need help in their daily life.

After several meetings between BTP and the foundations, and by listening carefully to their needs and wishes, BTP allocated funds to provide assistance, with the objective to make it a magical Christmas for them all.

Director of BTP Mr. Anthony Carty stated; “while we are tasked to regulate the Telecommunications & Postal industry in St. Maarten, we believe it’s just as important to also invest in the betterment of our community, which is part of our Corporate Social Responsibility. I’m very proud of my staff, because they’ve managed to put together an excellent program, and this year they even took it a step further and came up with the initiative to skip their annual Christmas retreat to make even more funds available to put towards the donation program. It was a great team effort and we believe we’ve all succeeded in making it a meaningful Christmas celebration for the wonderful angels of both homes”.
