Bank celebrates its fifth year giving to the cause
PHILIPSBURG:--- For the fifth year CIBC FirstCaribbean International Bank has donated to cancer awareness, this year the Sint Maarten Cancer Foundation received a donation of $18,000USD from the bank’s Walk for the Cure program which aims to provide support for those fighting cancer and create awareness across the region.
The Sint Maarten Cancer Foundation’s main objective is “to promote in the widest sense of the word the awareness among the general public with regards to cancer”. Their main focus next year will be a “Cancer Support Group and Volunteer Drive Training.” The foundation is very pleased with the fact that various institutions and businesses are placing health and awareness campaigns regarding various types of diseases on their agenda.
The fifth annual CIBC FirstCaribbean Walk for the Cure saw thousands of walkers and runners engage in organized events across the 16 territories where the bank is located. Regionally the walk generated USD$500,000 which will be donated to various charities and organizations across the region involved in the detection, treatment, and care of persons affected by cancer and their families.
