PHILIPSBURG:— The Supervisory Board of Directors of GEBE (SBOD) took a decision on Saturday to dismiss the company’s internal auditor Sharine Daniel who they hired when the board sat in June.
According to information provided to SMN News Daniel and her legal advisors agreed to a salary cut of NAF2000.00 when her contract was renewed on June 13th, 2016. At the time Daniel was not supposed to be working because she received a letter from the former Temporary manager Andrew Zaggers informing her that she is not to return to work on June 1st since her contract had expired. SMN News learned that when the SBOD sat they decided to renew Daniel’s contract with a salary cut of NAF2. 000.00 since she was earning NAF18, 000.00. The SBOD decided that since they were going to hire Daniel permanently they needed to cut her salary, since every year she will be entitled to an evaluation and salary increase. However, shortly after signing the contract Daniel hired the services of HBN law to take GEBE to court for the salary cut, citing that her contract was renewed two weeks after it expired. Daniel fired several emails to the supervisory board and Ministers begging them to renew her contract immediately and to not let her stay home for three months as stipulated by law since she had financial commitments. SMN News learned that when the SBOD got word that Daniel had intended to take the company to court they met with her and pleaded with her to reconsider her decision, which she promised she will do. Besides that, the SBOD agreed for Daniel to recuperate the loss by allowing her to be on the Supervisory Board of USZV.
Sources within the company told SMN News that the chairman of the Supervisory Board Roy Marlin had discussions with Daniel after he learnt via an article on SMN News that Daniel was taking the company to court for the salary cut.
However, on Friday the management of GEBE was served by Daniel’s attorney. The SBOD met on Saturday to discuss the matter among other things and they took a decision to dismiss Daniel for breach of trust, however, they also decided that Daniel who is currently off the island will get a hearing before they move to dismiss her from her position at GEBE. Besides that Daniel damaged one of the company’s vehicle recently and tried to have it repaired at the company’s expense without following procedures. Prior to that Daniel total a vehicle total loss one of the company’s vehicle while driving without a driver’s license. Efforts made to reach Chairman of the Supervisory Board Roy Marlin by phone for a comment proved futile on Tuesday.
