PHILIPSBURG:— On Thursday, November 24, 2016, NV GEBE’s Managing Board signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the St. Maarten Communication Union (SMCU), establishing here with the company’s Labor Management Committee. The committee will consist of representatives of management and employees and has as objective to assist management, in creating and stimulating an improved work environment. The committee’s main mission will be, to conduct research and provide a recommendation, on personnel- and operational related issues that might hamper the organization’s vision and its strategic goals.
By taking a closer look and reporting its findings to management, the committee will be able to help to solve many issues, before they become friction, the reason of frustration, or hazardous situations.
Mr. Sherman Serastis, the secretary of the SMCU, was elated with the fact that NVGEBE showed its willingness to be the first government-owned company, with SMCU representation, to take the initiative in signing such an important joint cooperation.
The entire Managing Board, consisting of Mr. Chittick, Ms. Jansen, and Ms. Arrindell, were present, showing their full support and commitment to this approach.
This is another milestone for NVGEBE, showing its commitment to creating a healthier, safer and efficient work environment, by acknowledging the importance of its employees and honoring them, with this form of active and more direct participation in the betterment of NVGEBE.
