PHILIPSBURG:--- Just before the parliament’s recess, the government presented a change to the law that slashed benefits of civil servants with 12.5 %. This “slashing”, the government argued at the time was a necessary condition to secure liquidity assistance from the Netherlands. One would recall that the government felt “vindicated”, by the upholding of these cost-cutting laws by the Constitutional Court.
