PHILIPSBURG:— On Wednesday, August 12th, Customs Officers at the Princess Juliana International airport along with Immigration, Justice K9 and the Alpha Team held a joint control.
3 Passengers with the initials N.Z, J.L, and JN.L, all Haitians nationals, were caught trying to leave Sint Maarten with a total of US $ 44.656,-. The Public Prosecutor issued fines. By law, it is required for persons traveling with monies above USD $11.000,- or the equivalent in other currencies to declare the funds by Customs officials. No arrest was made.
Customs will continue to intensify controls on both airport and harbor facilities.
