PHILIPSBURG:--- The Special Robbery Unit is presently investigating a possible armed robbery whereby the victim was shot and beaten. The incident happened on Monday March 21st 2016 just around 05.00 a.m. This is when the Central Emergency Dispatch received the first called informing them that two unknown men had forced themselves into the residence of the victim which is located in Pointe Pirouette. They culprits arrived at the location from the lagoon using a jet ski. After gaining access to the residence and the victim was confronted by the suspects he was beaten and suffered cuts and bruises to his body after they attempted to commit a robbery. Before leaving the residence the one of the suspect shot the victim with small caliber weapon to the back of his head.
Police patrols, Detectives, paramedics and Coast Guard were sent to the scene to investigate. The victim was treated on the scene and then transported to the Sint Maarten Medical Center. After the victim was stabilized he was transported to the French Side for further treatment. It is till unclear if anything was stolen from the residence or who the culprits are.
The Forensic Department was also on the scene collecting evidence for further investigation.
