Minister Arrindell-Doncher meets with hoteliers.

PHILIPSBURG:— Minister of Tourism Mellissa Arrindell-Doncher met with small and large property hoteliers on Wednesday, September 27, to hear directly from them about their status following the passing of hurricanes Irma and Maria. The Minister also used the opportunity to inform the gathering of government’s actions moving forward with regards to the industry and the re-opening of the Princess Juliana International Airport (PJIA). She also inquired about staffing at the hotels, potential job losses and when rooms will be available from each of the properties present to accept stay-over guests. The hoteliers had various inquiries but asked particularly about PJIA, allowing specialized foreign workers, security and government’s hurricane preparedness plan to avoid a repeat of the looting and property vandalism that occurred after hurricane Irma. The Minister will convene another meeting with the hoteliers in two weeks’ time.
