PHILIPSBURG:— Minister of Finance Richard Gibson Sr. has issued an instruction to conduct an investigation and screening process of the persons holding senior positions at the Central Bank of Curacao and St. Maarten. Gibson said he also asked the Minister of Finance of Curacao to issue the same instructions to VDSM Curacao since the Central Bank is a joint entity of St. Maarten and Curacao. He confirmed that no screening process was conducted for the persons holding top positions at the Central Bank including the President of the Central Bank Emsley Tromp.
The Minister of Finance said there have been a number of rumors and innuendos about persons at the Central Bank most of which is damaging, therefore the only way to clear the air on what is true or not true is to have a screening process done on all managers, general managers and President of the Central Bank. Asked by SMN News if these persons were not screened the past even though they are holding top positions for a vital institution Gibson said no screening was ever done and that is the reason he asked that one be conducted in order for government to know what is rumors and or innuendos from facts.
