PHILIPSBURG: — Deputy Prime Minister Richard Gibson Sr. told reporters on Wednesday at the Council of Minister’s press briefing that the Minister of TEATT Ingrid Arrindell told the council during their meeting on Tuesday that she did not officially appoint Rolando Brison as Director of the St. Maarten Tourism Authority (STA).
Minister Gibson said the Minister of TEATT promised to hold a press conference to clear the air on the matter.
Pushed for further details by SMN News since the press conference held on Friday by the Minister of TEATT was videotaped and is circulating on the social media network. Gibson said he could only report what was told to the council during the meeting on Tuesday and hopefully, the Minister will say exactly what transpired in a future press conference.
Minister Gibson was also asked if the STA director position is one of those positions that has to remain secret until the screening is fully completed. Minister Gibson said when the laws were written up, the STA entity was not existing and as such, there is nothing in the law for screening.
The deputy Prime Minister further explained that he is not accusing anyone of committing any crimes or anything but if there is evidence of wrong doings then it is expected that the person or person would not qualify for the position because they would not if the position was also included in the law where screening and vetting are concerned.
However, St. Maarten has to meet certain standards while there are certain expectations for candidates that will place in such position and as such those persons have to meet the expected standards

Minister of TEATT told Council of Ministers that she did not formally appoint Rolando Brison as STA Director.
The Minister is scrambling to cover her behind. Now going into “formally appointing” semantics. What we have here is a gross negligence and reckless behavior by the Minister which warrants a Vote of No Confidence dished out by Parliament.
