Department of Inspection monitoring garbage collection but more inspectors needed.
PHILIPSBURG:— The Minister of VROMI Angel Meyers in response to a question posed by SMN News regarding the collection of garbage said that he did get an update from the department who also submitted a proposal for more manpower especially inspectors since they now have more work on their hands since the district cleaning contracts have been given out.
The Minister said the collection of garbage has improved but he is still monitoring the situation. Asked if the department purchased the necessary garbage bins for the various districts the Minister said he did not know if the contractors informed the department of the types and size of bins they need but if that was done the garbage bins will be ordered.
As for the building permit requested for a private parking garage in Simpson Bay, the Minister continues to say he is not aware of such a request. However, he did admit that a request was submitted at the department of VROMI for a permit to construct a marina in the vicinity of the gas station in Simpson Bay. He said that project will include some apartments, but he is not aware if an enclosed parking garage is included in the project.
