ottleycps24052022PHILIPSBURG:--- On Monday, May 23rd, the Minister of Public Health, Social Development, and Labor, Omar Ottley met with Collective Prevention Services (CPS) to discuss the monkeypox virus outbreak.
Monkeypox, a virus that is usually found in rodents, marsupials, and monkeys, has been detected in humans in a number of countries worldwide. So far, 92 cases have been recorded across 12 countries. This number is likely to grow but it has not been detected in Sint Maarten.

Monkeypox virus is transmitted from person to person by close contact with lesions, body fluids, respiratory droplets, and contaminated materials such as bedding.
