MARIGOT:— Residents on French St. Maarten experienced an almost island wide power outage Tuesday afternoon. According to residents living in the Marigot and other areas including Oyster Pond and French Quarter they were in darkness from around 5:30 pm and up to 7:30 pm electricity had not returned. Over the past few days electricity on the French side have been going constantly but for short periods, however, on Tuesday an almost island wide power outage struck the residents on French St. Martin. Efforts made to reach the power plant by phone proved futile while the company manager Elio Gumbs also could not be reached.
