PHILIPSBURG:— On Sunday January 17th between 12.00 p.m. and 04.00 p.m. the Multi Disciplinary team consisting of members from the Customs Department and the Police Department held a major control at several locations on the Dutch Side of the island. The controls were mainly geared at illegal guns, drugs, stolen vehicles and also the issuing of fines to those drivers who do not have all legal and up to date documents to operate their vehicle on the public roads.
During this control over 150 vehicles were stopped, 52 fines were issued and 15 vehicles were towed for traffic violations. These controls will continue and intensify. All drivers should make sure that all documents for their vehicle are up to date. They should also make sure that they are in the possession of a valid driver’s license. They should take note of this information to avoid any unnecessary inconvenience.
