PHILIPSBURG:— Prime Minister William Marlin confirmed that there are persons out in the community dumping garbage in St. Peters/ South Reward area. He said every night when going home he would drive through certain areas to see if the garbage was picked up but there are things he personally noticed that causes concern. The Prime Minister said if the garbage is collected at 10pm at night by midnight the garbage bins are overflowing again.
The Prime Minister said that persons are even dumping commercial garbage in the area. He said pallets were dumped next to a garbage bin in front of his home and at several locations in the St. Peters/ South Reward and Cay Hill area. He said as citizen living in South Reward he has seen pallets which was taken there by someone. Marlin said he also caught two men who were taking garbage from a pick-up truck and throwing into the garbage bins in front of Milton Peters College and he personally stopped and confronted those persons who eventually apologized.
Marlin said he also spoke to the contractor to be mindful and to watch out for extra garbage such as trees because it is the hurricane season and people would normally clean up their yards, and cut trees in order to prevent damage to their homes in the event of a hurricane.
The Prime Minister said he also spoke to the department of VROMI to have their inspectors out because the garbage situation does concern him and there is not one day that goes by that he does not speak about the garbage situation.
