PHILIPSBURG:--- The Public Prosecutor of St. Maarten is calling on witnesses that might have more information or were contacted before the elections in 2014, to accept presents, money or goods in exchange for votes. This case is at this moment under investigation and is called "Octopus". Several persons were questioned and they suspected of these facts in the ongoing investigation.
Anyone with any information is invited to contact the National Detective St. Maarten by email info@landsrecherche.sx, by phone +1721-5877217 or can visit the National Detective during working hours at the office on the A.Th. Illidge road 56 (between GEBE sub station and the Windward Island bank).
While in the beginning it appeared as though the Attorney General and the Prosecution on St. Maarten had a truck load of evidence to arrest Member of Parliament Silvio Matser and others the way they did during the budget debates. It seems as though the Prosecution is on a fishing expedition to gather information and or evidence against the Member of Parliament who is currently in pretrial detention while the country is placed on the back burner since the current government cannot get its budget passed right away.
