PHILIPSBURG:— Members of the Rotary Club of St. Maarten presented the faculty of the MAC School in Betty’s Estate tablets for selected students who were having challenges getting a device that could facilitate their distant learning needs. On hand for the presentation of the tablets was Club President Dimple Sagre, Secretary Jim Ferris, and Rotarians John Caputo and Pierre Decelles.

Specific Tablets were chosen and purchased from Klass Electronics that also had the ability to add a sim card as still so many families do not have adequate internet service at home and this gives the opportunity for the student to still have data. Klass offered a good discount so that the Rotary Club could purchase more devices to allow the club to help even more students

“The success of our educational system and the positive progress of our students are the future of our island. These are such challenging times we are faced with and many students don’t have a device of their own or are sharing with other siblings who are also trying to learn from home at the same time. Our club is proud to support and help these students with these tablets and will continue to purchase more to help others as well,” said Dimple Sagre, the Rotary Club of Sint Maarten’s President.

The Rotary Club of Sint Maarten usually does an annual distribution of Dictionaries for every 4th-grade student on the Dutch Side. This year, due to the circumstances related to Distance Learning and Covid-19, it was decided to use that budget to purchase Tablets and Laptops as those are much more in need and applicable at the moment.
