Rotary Club of St. Maarten donates wheelchairs to Medical Center And White Yellow Cross.

pgbonaire01112016PHILIPSBURG:— The Rotary Club of Sint Maarten in collaboration with a Rotary Club of Singer Island, Florida embarked on a project to provide 10 wheelchairs to both the St. Maarten Medical Center and White & Yellow Cross.

The presentation of the much needed new wheelchairs was made this morning at each respective location. Both facilities expressed appreciation for the continued support received from the island’s Rotary Clubs as having fulfilled many other equipment needs prior to the wheelchairs; such as a leg press, eye examination machine, an infant incubator, amongst others.

Both Dr. Kees Klarenbeek, the Chairman Board of Directors of SMMC and Bregje Boetekees, Operations Manager of the White & Yellow Cross echoed the same sentiment during the presentations. Both had said that medical services are not only about the doctor and patient/client, it’s about working together with the community as a whole to provide and be equipped to properly handle any situation, and to make the best of limited budgets and subsidies. It is with the assistance of service clubs, like the Rotary Club of Sint Maarten that continue to help fulfill this void.

The ten wheelchairs included a few sized for children, were presented by club President Henna Budhrani along with several Rotarians. Also in presence was the President Elect for Rotary International, Ian Riseley and his wife Juliete along with District Governor-Elect Robert Leger and his wife Rosa. “The Rotary Club of St. Maarten takes great pride in helping make a difference around the world. When you support Rotary via our various fundraisers or activities, you know that the funds raised go to relevant and needed causes such as these ten wheelchairs we are presenting today,” said President Henna.
