PHILIPSBURG:--- The Rotary Club of St. Maarten Mid Isle held it's Change of Board ceremony on Saturday June 25 at a buffet dinner held in Melange restaurant in Port de Plaisance. During this ceremony, four people were honored with a Paul Harris Fellow which is the highest distinction of service in the Rotary Club. This award is named after the founder of Rotary.

The four people awarded were Mr. Imran McSood of Nagico Insurances, Mr. Marcel Gumbs and Rotarians Wayne Wilkie and Aernout Kraaijveld.

Mr. McSood was awarded for his years of generous contributions to Rotary, to the community of St. Maarten in general and specifically his contributions to the development of cricket and other sports on the island. This Paul Harris Fellow was proposed by Rotarian Kishor Mirchandani.

Mr. Marcel Gumbs, who is also an extra ordinary member of Rotary Club of St. Maarten Mid Isle was also awarded a Paul Harris Fellow for his years of service to the community from his involvement in other service clubs thru his tenure as a senator and later as Prime Minister of St. Maarten. This Paul Harris Fellow was proposed by Rotarian Louis Wever

Mr. Wayne Wilkie was the immediate past president (IPP) of Rotary Club of St. Maarten Mid Isle and therefore received the Paul Harris Fellow for his outstanding contributions in service to his club.

Mr. Aernout Kraaijveld received his Paul Harris Fellowship for his generous contributions to the Rotary International Foundation.

Both Mr. Mc Sood and Mr. Gumbs expressed surprise at being awarded as their families had assisted the Rotary Club in keeping it a surprise. They both expressed their gratitude to the club.
