PHILIPSBURG:— The University of St. Martin School of Continuing Education and Life Long Learning, (SCELL) celebrated the first graduating class of the USM/SCELL’s Journalism course. The course commenced in August of 2016 and comprised of 16 weeks. The course instructor, Wendie Brown facilitated the (6) scholarship recipients on the key principles and theories of Journalism, Media & Reporting.
The Journalism scholarship was established with a joint MOU inclusive of, The University of St. Maarten under the leadership of Francio Guadeloupe, USM President, Bureau of Telecommunication and Post Sint Maarten (BTPSXM), Mr. A. Carty, Director, Chamber of Commerce and Industry St. Maarten, (COCI), Ms. G. York, Manager of COCI Biz Center, Chamber of Commerce and Industry St. Maarten, COCI, Mr. C. Conner Director and Member of Parliament, MP Ms. Tamara Leonard of ( I AM SXM) .
The course was a big success and SCELL will be offered this August. SCEEL is encouraging members of the community to enroll and learn 21st century Journalism techniques, the art of reporting ad current Journalism & Media practices. The course will start on August 29, 2016 through January 16th, 2017. The cost of the course is 960.00 NAF.
