PHILIPSBURG:--- On Friday June 24th, 2016, the Foundation Catholic Education St. Maarten (SKOS)held its annual Commencement Ceremony for 158 students of group 8. The theme for the evening was “We are called to spread The Good News” The students were from the following schools: St. Joseph Primary School, Sr. Regina Primary School, Sr. Borgia Elementary School, Sr. Magda Primary School, Sr. Marie Laurence Primary School and the St. Dominic Primary School. The venue was at Port de Plaissance.
The Commencement Ceremony was opened with a word of welcome from the Executive Director of the Foundation Catholic Education St. Maarten, Mrs. Lilia Aventurin-Hodge. This was followed by an opening prayer from the Parish Priest of the St. Martin of Tours Parish, Rev. Fr. Adam Oleszczuk SVD.
The St. Maarten’s song was led by Peter Zurita, a student of the St. Dominic Primary School.
Congratulatory notes were given by president of the Foundation Catholic Education St. Maarten, Dr. Marlon Halley and the Honorable Minister of Education, Culture, Youth & Sports Affairs, Ms. Silveria Jacobs.
The keynote address was given by Ms. Tatia Brunings, a Year 2, I.B student of the St. Dominic High School.
One special part of the program was the students portraying what they would like to become. This was digitally displayed at the very moment they received their certificate. The graduates were serenaded by the St. Joseph School Choir, Kibibi Beaton, Jahcyntha John, Radiah Mathew, Nacirfa Bedminister and Peter Zurita.
The highlight of the evening was the distribution of the certificates and best awards. The 6 valedictorians were given the opportunity to say a few words of appreciation to their classmates, teachers and family member.

3. Sr. Borgia Elementary School - Hanna van Dam
4.Sr. Magda Primary School -Isabeau Croes

6. St. Dominic primary School -Jai Gangwani
