PHILIPSBURG:--- On Sunday October 9th, 2016, the St. Maarten Chinese community Foundation (SCCF) met with the St. Maarten Police Department at the John Larmonie Community Center and had a very informative session with a large group of Chinese business community in relation to the recent spike in armed robberies which had taken place on St. Maarten.
During the meeting, a PowerPoint presentation was given, by the police department, with tips on how to prevent armed robberies, and the do's & don't during a robbery were the topic of exchange. The police department also highlighted the necessary measures they have taken to assist the business community with this spike in robberies. For example, the increase of police patrols, increase control of vehicles, regular visits to businesses by the community police officers in their respective community, etc.
On behalf of the community, SCCF would like to give thanks to the entire St. Maarten police force for the initiative and steps they have taken in light of the spike in robberies.
