MARIGOT:— The 4th edition of the event initiated by Penchard Voyages in Guadeloupe motivated the trip by the Office of Tourism, accompanied by representatives of Beach Hotel, to represent our destination.
The travel and cruise show was held from December 9th to 11th at the World Trade Center in Jarry. Saint-Martin did not miss the opportunity to presents its assets at the invitation of the Penchard Travel Agency, leader in the sector in Guadeloupe. During four days, more than 5.000 visitors came to meet the forty exhibitors distributed over 3000 m2 in order to discover or rediscover Caribbean travel ideas. As well as, take the opportunity to reserve more attractive packages, such as the ones reviewed by the Penchard Agency for Christmas and New Year’s Eve for the destination of Saint-Martin.
Representatives of the Office of tourism spend their time guiding and advising future tourists by promoting all the activities the island has to offer. Visitors coming and going at the St. Martin booth were greeted by a local festive musical ambiance and the new video campaign launched by the Office of tourism in September 2015, “Smile at life.”
The image of St. Martin, seen as a paradise where it is easy to be entertained, go shopping and enjoy wonderful traditional dishes, was enhanced. When it comes to shopping, the Guadeloupians noted, however, that the prices charged on the whole of the island are not as attractive as before… and passed the message. Grégoire Dumel, head of the local and regional market, also noted that “on the show, there was a less important flow of visitors this year compared to last year”. The representative of the Office of tourism noted that “this is related to the date selected, in December; We have talked with the organizers so that this show can be held in November”, which was already the case during the first editions. The event is even more important since cruising heavily impacts the renowned destinations in the Caribbean that are St. Maarten, the Dominican Republic and Martinique. Because of this, the Office of Tourism will continue its efforts in this key sector of the tourism economy.
