PHILIPSBURG:— The organizers of the annual island-wide community service campaign, SXM DOET, are requesting the help of community-minded individuals to assist with the organizing of projects and recruitment of volunteers for the 3rd edition of SXM DOET slated for Friday, March 10 and Saturday, March 11, 2017.
“One major piece of feedback we’ve received from organizations over the past 2 years of executing SXM DOET has been that some foundations feel a bit overwhelmed with the task of organizing of their projects. Many times these non-profit organizations are already swamped with their own everyday tasks and when it comes to planning for SXM DOET, they could use some extra support and assistance for the projects and activities they have planned,” President of Be The Change Foundation, Melanie Choisy said.
Project managers will be tasked with volunteering to assist one or more local organizations in preparing for SXM DOET 2017. Tasks include but are not limited to general project management, planning, budgeting, assisting with volunteer recruitment and management, acquiring promotional materials and donated items in a timely fashion, securing donations and/or discounts, and taking photos and videos during the days of SXM DOET.
“Participating as a project manager is also a great opportunity for students to acquire their required community service hours needed to graduate high school,” organizer Fleur Hermanides commented.
