PHILIPSBURG:— The Audit Team St. Maarten (ATS) foundation that was registered under number 24142 on July 20th, 2016 at the Chamber of Commerce St. Maarten shows that the ATS is a foundation registered on St. Maarten to conduct audit taxes and social security premiums. Based on the Chamber registration it shows that the ATS is operating at the USZV location. Indeed an audit team under the BAP is working and is stationed at USZV office, they are also using USZV vehicles while being paid as a separate entity.
However, there are a few things that are clear in the document, the legal advisor of the current director Jeroen Veen is registered on the ATC as the secretary and member of the board. A notary Marlene Francoise Mingo-van der Biest is the treasurer while the president of the foundation Wilfred Russell Voges is a close relative to the current director Glen Carty.
On Wednesday SMN News asked the Minister or VSA if he knew anything about the ATS and he quickly said the question should be posed to USZV and not him even though he knew a little bit about the ATS. Minister of Finance Richard Gibson went on to explain that the ATS is operating at USZV office because that makes them closer to the entity they are working for, he said the people working in name of this foundation is doing a great job since they are able to get delinquent companies to pay their social security premiums.
While Minister Lee added that the USZV was able to collect 20% more of their premiums since the ATS is working with USZV. However, the question is not about the work the ATC is performing for USZV but it surrounds the members of the board, the nepotism and conflict of interest that arises.
