Breast health session at the university

St. Maarten News – Collective Preventation Services (CPS) and the American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine (AUC) in collaboration with the Positive Foundation host a breast cancer awareness information session entitled “Breast Health and Abnormalities” this evening at the university on Pond Island from 6 to 8 p.m.

During this event, a risk calculation will be conducted for participants who are interested in knowing their risk factor. Participants will learn about the signs and symptoms of breast cancer, what can be done to decrease the risk, the importance and steps of doing breast self-examinations and the steps to take if one does have a suspicious finding.

Presentations and risk factor calculations will be done by Dr. Britta Haydel, a graduate of the American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine, who has thoroughly researched breast health and abnormalities. Dr. Haydel along with a number of students from AUC are pleased to share this information with St. Maarten.
