Dale Manuel speaks Friday at Martin Luther King lecture

St. Maarten News – Dr. Dale Manuel is the guest speaker for the 29th annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Lecture this Friday Shujah Reiph, president of Conscious Lyrics Foundation, announced yesterday. The lecture begins at 7.30 p.m. at the Chamber of Commerce Building in Spring Concordia, Marigot.

Dr. Manuel, a dentist by profession and a dedicated community volunteer worker by choice, will address the lecture, “Engaging Ourselves in Building Better Communities. He will highlight concrete and new ways of how young professionals can contribute to the building of better communities.

My approach to the theme is how can we build this community for ourselves. We have the knowledge, we have the technology and our youths have the energy, now we must find ways to merge all this together to build our community,” Dr. Manuel said.

According to Reiph, “Dr. Manuel will also address the perpetuation of violent crime by young people, and the importance of family values and how to positively work with the knowledge of our young people.” Dr. Manuel grew up in St. Martin as the son of an Anguillan mother and a St. Martin father.

The Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Lecture is organized by the Conscious Lyrics Foundation as a forum of serious issues, addressed by speakers from St. Martin and abroad.

Dr. Dale Manuel graduated in 1986 from the Charlotte Amelie High School in St. Thomas. He completed his undergraduate studies at Xavier University and obtained his doctorate in dentistry from Meharry Medical College School of Dentistry. He received his residency training in hospital dentistry at the University of Maryland medical system.
