Entries pouring in for the St. Maarten Heineken Regatta

St. Maarten Heineken Regatta – Over the years, it has been proven that the number of entries in a regatta is not as important as the quality of the boats that will be competing and while it remains to be seen if this year’s entries will surpass those of the 2015 event, so far the numbers have been impressive.

The organizing committee for the St Maarten Heineken Regatta has released a list of boats that have already indicated their intentions to participate by registering for the 36th edition of the regatta which takes place from March 3 to 7.

Up to press time yesterday, around 150 boats had already entered and in the days running up to the highly anticipated event where serious and serious sailing can be accommodated in the same sentence, that figure is likely to escalate.

Phaedo 3, a Mod70, owned by Lloyd Thornburg of the United States, Soma, a 144 Formula 40 owned by Nils Erickson from the Virgin Islands, Millepora, a Beneteau Oceanis 43, owned by Dimitri Zaritckii from Russia, Solignac, a Jeanneau SO 469 , owned by Sofiene Dehbal from Belgium and Flying Penguin, a 122 Judel Vroilic 13.4m, owned by Hjalmar from Sweden are just a few among the entries so far.

However, the regatta is not only about outside participation, the local entries as well as those from the neighboring islands are also good to go once again. Dingo, a Tri 247 from Trinidad & Tobago, Taz,, a RP37 from Antigua & Barbuda, Lazy Dog, a Melges 32 from Puerto Rico, Panic Attack, a Open 750 owned by Jan vanden Eynde from Sint Martin, Team Budget Marine, a GBR J39 owned by yours truly Robbie Ferron from Sint Maarten, L’Esperance, a 123 beneteau 45P5 owned by Bobby Velasquez and Island Water World, a Melges 24, owned by Frtis Bus, also from Sint Maarten are also among the list of entries.
