Gebe’s Toastmasters Club installed

GREAT BAY – The Power to Serve Toastmasters, composed of Gebe staff members, hosted the installation ceremony for its new club last Wednesday at the Gebe parking lot.   The ceremony was officiated by District 81 Director Sherry-Ann Batson, who led her 2016-2017 tenure with the slogan – Member driven; Member focused; Members first- Always.
The POWER to SERVE Toastmasters Club’s board consists of President Georges Richardson, Vice President Education Ambioris Brown, Vice President Membership Di-Angelo Remy, Vice President Public Relations Ahisha Nunes, Secretary Jewel Daal, Treasurer Lydia Carty and Sergeant-at-Arms Godwin Carty.
Immediately following the ceremony, fear found its foe as the ebullient POWER to SERVE Toastmasters took to the lectern and left the audience in awe.
Jessica Djoen called the meeting to order.
Yannick Hodge and Henry Azille wowed their colleagues and fellow Toastmasters from other clubs by delivering their ice breaker speeches (the 1st project in the Toastmasters Competent Communicator manual).
Lydia Carti and Di-Angelo Remy led the table topics segment with engaging questions.
Aisha Nunes facilitated the role of Grammarian by presenting the word of the day “ebullient” and providing a report as well as an evaluation on the use of the English grammar.
Ambioris Brown served as timer, Godwin Carty served as Ah Counter, both providing a report to the audience.
Gebe CEO Kenrick Chittick communicated his positive expectations through the use of the Toastmasters program.  Some staff members used the opportunity at the lectern to affirm their commitment to the program in the interest of their personal development as well as that of the company.
A gleeful President Georges Richardson expressed his conviction that there is much more in store for the club and its members which will ultimately positively impact GEBE and its customers.  He also thanked advanced Toastmasters Ashayna Nisbett and Sharine Allamby-Duncan for providing constructive and empowering evaluations to the two speakers.
Richardson thanked Gebe’s managing board for giving them this opportunity.  He also thanked all who contributed to bringing this project to fruition including club sponsors Kathia Magdeleine and Sophia Carty and club mentor Donna Morrison-Wilson, Elroy Hughes, Ashayna Nisbett, Olga Mussington, Priscilla Bell, Sanjana Manek, Sharine Allamby-Duncan, Tamara Groeneveldt and Vernicia Brooks.
