GREAT BAY – As Irma made her way across open water as a category 3 hurricane yesterday, a tour of the island showed that only a few businesses are busy preparing for her arrival.
Several companies on Front Street were in the process of removing canopies from their storefronts and the huge neon bill board that stands above the Jump Up Casino was also removed.
Also taking measures in the face of the storm was the Seventh Day Adventist Church on Zagersgut. Our photographer spotted one resident on Bush Road repairing his roof and he saw that for the third consecutive day the parking lot at Sunny Food was packed to capacity as residents hurried to the store to get the items they need to weather the storm.
