St. Maarten News —A man residing on from French St. Martin has been sentenced to 24 months, 12 of which are suspended for his involvement in attempting to smuggle large quantities of marijuana and cocaine through a St. Barth’s ferry. Alexander Dorville, a 21-year-old resident was also sentenced on Wednesday to three year probation.
Dorville was arrested on June 14 by customs officials at Bobby’s Marina after he was found with 5.33 kilos of marijuana and 835 grams of cocaine.
He told the judge a man in the neighbourhood approached him and gave him a bag to carry with marihuana to St. Barths. He said he was not aware cocaine was also in the bag.
