St. Maarten – The Common Court of Justice sentenced Pershin Orell Sherwin Doram yesterday to 6 years of imprisonment for firearm and cocaine possession, money laundering and membership of a criminal organization. On different dates between June 2012 and December 2013, the defendant had money in his possession, totaling $313,768, and eleven cars that according to the court all stem from criminal activities.

When Doram, together with others, was found by a police patrol in Sucker Garden on September 17, 2013, officers found 3,844 gram of cocaine in his car, as well as several firearms. In his company was also Urvin Wawoe, leader of the No Limit Soldiers gang in Curacao.

The court wrote in its ruling that Doram has a criminal record; his most recent sentence was for 10 years in prison. A second suspect in this case, Richard Mitchell Rene, who was also at the location on September 17, 2013 when Doram was arrested, was sentenced to 18 months, with 15 months suspended for firearm and drug possession, money laundering and membership of a criminal organization.

A female suspect, Renicia Yacinta Arrindell, was sentenced to18 months with 15 months suspended and 240 hours of community service. She bought cars for her car rental with money she received from Doram.

A fourth suspect, Darrell Keith Doram, received the same sentence as Arrindell for complicity to habitual money laundering and membership of a criminal organization.
