St. Maarten News — The Sint Maarten Christian Party officially opened the party headquarters located on Backstreet on Wednesday morning and used the opportunity to also launch its manifesto. The Christian Party the first for St. Maarten even though the Netherlands has had a history of Christian parties for years. The SMCP said it is bringing Christian values to the fore and is expected to lead with integrity.
Party leader Wycliffe Smith who was the senior pastor at the New Testament Baptist Church in Philipsburg and past president of the St Maarten United Ministerial Foundation (SMUMF), said at the opening of their new headquarters that “the electorate for years have been speaking of the lack of integrity, honesty and transparency in government.” He noted that there were many stories which were surfaced regarding bribery, corruption, deals and greed by politicians and government representatives.
