St. Maarten – A woman sustained injuries in a late night shooting in Dutch Quarter on Thursday evening and the suspect, identified as truck driver ‘Ice Man’ Dalton Ayer was later found dead. His cause of death has not been determined, the police report stated.

Around 8 p.m. Ayer started firing shots on the Christiansted drive. A witness called the police saying that one of the bullets had hit a woman in one of her legs. Ayer drove off in an SUV and police officers and paramedics sped to the scene where they treated the victim.

About half an hour later there was another call, informing the police that a man – who turned out to be Ayer – was lying motionless on the street on Carrot Road in South Reward. Police patrols, detectives and crime scene investigators went to that location, closed off the area and questioned witnesses. The forensic department examined the crime scene.

Dr. Mercuur pronounced the man’s death but could not immediately establish a cause of death. Ayer’s body was confiscated for further investigation. His SUV was later found in the vicinity of Milton Peters College.
