Zr.Ms. Karel Doorman supply ship arrived in St. Maarten

GREAT BAY — Zr.Ms. Karel Doorman has arrived in St. Maarten. The joint support ship left a week and a half ago from Den Helder. Today, it is docking at the port in Point Blanche with more than one million kilos of goods on board.

The logistics support ship left loaded with supplies the 20th of September from the port of Den Helder in The Netherlands. This is to assist the people of St. Maarten in the recovery process of the heavily damaged island. The ship includes supply equipment and material such as construction vehicles, transmission masts and building materials.

Prime Minister William Marlin, with a delegation from his government and the Ministry of Interior and Kingdom Relations on the quay, was waiting for the navy ship. Before the ship moored along the dock of the container port, hydrographic recordings were first made of the seabed. Immediately after mooring, the first goods and vehicles were unloaded.
