DJ Jansen de Jong (right) from HelpSXM.org, a non-governmental organization from the Netherlands and Marian de Reus from St. Maarten, have been making food deliveries on both sides of the island for the past four weeks. “It was an initiative to start a vegan food share in St. Maarten,” explained DJ, “We try to do it as often as possible. Right now, it’s about four to five days a week and we distribute about a hundred meals a day. We hope to continue providing we have the funding. We try to go into the areas where the poorer people live.” The food is served from the back of a car as seen here in Sandy Ground. (Photo Robert Luckock)
