MARIGOT–Two motorbike riders were transported to hospital with serious injuries on Sunday evening after they crashed into each other on the RN7 bypass, Grand Case, according to the Gendarmerie. The extent of the injuries sustained to both was not mentioned. Emergency services tended to the victims.
Apparently one rider was travelling in the direction of Grand Case from Hope Estate and the other in the opposite direction towards Hope Estate. It was not known why the collision occurred.
Capitaine Thierry Verres said neither rider was wearing a crash helmet, and neither had vehicle insurance. He added he did not know the status of either victim on Monday. Sources indicated a lot of joy riding and motorbike racing was taking place in French Quarter and other areas, on Sunday.
In a separate incident, a female tourist on a Quad motorbike turned over in Friars Bay on Monday morning, but only suffered minor injuries.
