378 now self-quarantining, 77 self-isolating, 27 tested | THE DAILY HERALD

 PHILIPSBURG–The number of persons in self-quarantine and self-isolation in Dutch St. Maarten as a precautionary measure for the coronavirus COVID-19 has gone up.

  According to figures released by the Department of Communications DComm on Thursday, the number of persons in self-quarantine now stands at 378; while 77 are in self-isolation; 27 have been tested; 19 are negative and five are pending. The country still has three active positive cases.

  The last figures released for up to March 23 were a bit lower with 22 suspected cases of COVID-19; 322 in self-quarantine; 57 in self-isolation; 12 negative cases; eight pending cases and two positive cases.

  The Collective Prevention Services (CPS) has been registering persons who have travelled recently. These persons are required to self-quarantine. The number of self-quarantined persons are mainly returning residents who have to stay confined at home. The self-isolation cases are those who have dialled tel. 914 as a result of the public awareness campaign and are being monitored for symptoms.

  Persons who returned from abroad are asked to register and email the form to CPS: surveillance@sintmaartengov.org
