PHILIPSBURG–Carnival troupe Survivors is back for the fifth annual Children’s Balloon parade, which is usually set two weekends before the start of Carnival in April.

Troupe coordinator Jasmine Philips said the event had been cancelled last year, but the cancellation had given the organisation enough time to plan the fifth anniversary for its revellers.

Philips, who was one of the Carnival pioneers honoured by St. Maarten Carnival Development Foundation (SCDF) in 2017, said the Balloon Parade registration continues until the end of March and the parade will take place on April 8.

The children’s participation fee is US $10 to jam from Bush Road to Festival Village. Music and drinks are included in the price. The participants will get a T-shirt and will be surrounded with balloons as always.

Survivors Carnival troupe is also preparing for the Carnival parade and costumes are on display from at their mas camp at Sophia Drive 10, Bishop Hill. They open at 9:00am and close at 9:00pm. Persons can contact Philips on tell/WhatsApp, at tel. 1-721-526-6384/1-721-587-2044
