Hervé Williams School.
MARIGOT–Located opposite the Lycée Polyvalent des Iles du Nord, in Concordia, Hervé Williams Elementary School did not suffer too badly from the strong winds of Hurricane Irma. It was mainly the school’s perimeter fence that blew down.
However, 60,000 euros including 4,000 euros for the repair of the fence was attributed to this school by the Collectivité. In addition to protective measures on the roof undertaken in the last quarter of 2017, which were completed in May 2018, the repair work on the fence and to doors and windows took place between May and June 2018.
The 15 classrooms were opened on November 6, 2017, for the 267 pupils who were enrolled for the start of the 2017/18 September school year.
Essential repair work has included plumbing and electrical work, including installation of a compressor. Additional work included repairs to the fence, roof, doors and windows. Most of the work was completed in June 2018. 260 pupils are registered for the start of the school year on September 3, 2018.
The school will welcome pupils from Spring Road, the Spring Highlands, Concordia 2 (Mont Carmel Street, Cherry Clamy St., Les Navigateurs Residence, François Hunt Street, Tah Bloudy Street, Santa Monica Residence), Hameau du Pont, Agrément, and Morne Valois.
