Adelio Brooks wins Deux Jours de la Ville Marigot

MARIGOT—VCG Club’s young Adelio Brooks is fast becoming the rider to watch after he won the two-day stage race for Cadets, Les Deux Jours de la Ville de Marigot, on Sunday, beating riders from Guadeloupe, Martinique and Anguilla.

Brooks finished first in the overall classification after three races in a time of 2:12:37. Guadeloupe’s Anaé Mathias was second (2:12:40) and third place went to Martinique’s Stevy Hortensia (2:12:42).
The other highest placed St. Martin rider was Kianny Noel in ninth place overall (2:13:30).
Brooks got off to a blazing start by winning the 5K time trial from La Samanna to Sandy Ground on Saturday afternoon in 7:15:93 to take the yellow jersey.
From thereon in the next two races (36 and 37K respectively) he fended off attacks to keep the jersey.
St. Martin’s Kianny Noel won the Best Climber’s jersey with 25 points beating Guadeloupe’s Lucien Matillon (9 points) and Martinique’s Stevy Hortensia (8 points).
34 riders took part in the weekend race.
Adding this victory to the one in Guadeloupe a month ago Brooks, who is in the St. Martin selection, will be  full of confidence going into the upcoming Tours of Martinique and Guadeloupe for Cadets in June and July.
