THE HAGUE–Ajamu G. Baly will be St. Maarten’s next Governor. The Kingdom Council of Ministers RMR today, Friday, approved his appointment.

Dutch State Secretary of Kingdom Relations and Digitization Alexandra van Huffelen announced this in a digital press conference after Friday’s RMR. Baly was the candidate proposed by the St. Maarten government for the position of Governor, and the RMR decided to approve that proposal, Van Huffelen confirmed.

On October 10, 2022, the second term of current St. Maarten Governor Eugene B. Holiday will come to an end, and he will go on pension. Holiday was St. Maarten’s first Governor since St. Maarten attained country status on October 10, 2010.

His successor, Ajamu Baly, LL.M., currently is the Secretary-Director of St. Maarten’s Council of Advice. Baly is also a substitute judge of the Court in First Instance of Sint Maarten. On February 10, 2022, Governor Holiday administered the oath to Baly for the function of substitute judge.

Baly is furthermore a member of the Supervisory Board of Directors of the Central Bank of Curaçao and St. Maarten (CBCS).

  1. A new puppet governor. A new über house negro. Nothing will change. Exploitation and discrimination will continue just as the Dutch government ordered it. The institute of governor actually means that the so-called parliamentary democracy in fact is a farce because when the Dutch government wants to, the governor can send parliament and local government home. He has the same position towards the military and other armed oppressors as 200 years ago. Not ceremonial. Just because the Dutch never trust the people of the Caribbean islands.
