Carnival revellers
ANGUILLA–The Anguilla Summer Festival is due to open at the Landsome Bowl, on Thursday, July 25. Several events are planned during the week leading up to August Monday on August 5.
The Prince and Princess show will be held on Saturday, July 27, and this will be followed the next day by the Children’s Parade and Fair. Soca Rave takes place on Thursday, August 1. The South Valley Street Festival is during the day on Saturday, August 3, and the Bandclash and Bandorama that evening. The Talented Teen Pageant is on Sunday, August 4.
August Monday starts at 4:00am with J’Ouvert from The Valley to Sandy Ground when local musicians and artistes compete for the title of Road March Champion. The Caribbean Beach Party and boat races start at 12:00 noon with local and international artistes on the stage for the next 12 hours. This year performers include Bunji Garlin, Nadia Batson, Mel, Roxxy, King James, King Vers, Kenyo Baly, King Kembe, Pantha Vibes, Infusion XL, Synergy, DJ Sparta and DJ Stylez.
The Miss Anguilla Pageant takes place on Wednesday, August 7, with three young ladies competing for the title. The Grand Parade of Troupes will be on Friday, August 9, and the Leeward Islands Calypso Competition on Saturday the 10th.
During the week there are several boat races for the Class A and B boats, starting with the warm-up race on Sunday, August 4, and finishing with the Champion of Champions race the following Sunday.
