PHILIPSBURG–Antillean Liquors N.V. ALQ and St. Maarten Carnival Development Foundation (SCDF) have secured a partnership for Carnival 2017 that is “great for Carnival and Carnival lovers.” SCDF President Alston Lourens and ALQ Managing Director Dominique DeTullio formalised the agreement on Thursday.
The agreement officially establishes ALQ as one of SCDF’s largest corporate partners; so large, in fact that ALQ is the title sponsor of SCDF’s mega reggae concert “One Love” with its brand Dewar’s White Label. ALQ in turn will offer several specials and giveaways to the community in the months leading up to Carnival 2017.
Lourens said it was important to get ALQ on board considering some of the popular brands the company offers and the fact that ALQ is already active in Carnival in other instances.
“Our aim is still to get companies involved in Carnival on a larger scale. Our policy remains the same: every company that participates in Carnival will be asked to contribute its fair share to making the event possible. Our regulations regarding liquor companies haven’t changed, but we are very happy that we were able to find a middle ground and secure a working relationship with ALQ,” Lourens said.
Shyam Rambhadjan of ALQ added, “Antillean Liquors is pleased to announce its participation in Carnival 2017. We consider it a great opportunity to work with the SCDF and all the Carnival stakeholders to bring Carnival 2017 to a new level. We invite local, regional and international visitors to ‘Come Experience Life’ with us.”
