Association of Business & Professional Women Concordia inaugurated Sunday

MARIGOT–An inauguration and installation ceremony was held Sunday, June 18, 2017, for the Association of Business and Professional Women (BPW) Concordia in the Christ Ambassadors Ministries Church.

  The installation ceremony was conducted by Regional Coordinator of North America and the Caribbean, Bessie Hironimus.

  The yearly Candle Lighting Ceremony also took place during which a candle is lit for every participating country to celebrate achievements and to honour Federations and Affiliate Clubs in over 96 countries world-wide.

  BPW Concordia is an affiliate club of the International Federation of Business and Professional Women whose aim is to unite business and professional women in all parts of the world.

  The four main goals are: 1. To work for women’s economic independence, equal opportunity and representation in economic, civil and political life; 2. Encourage and support women and girls to develop their professional and leadership potential, undertake life-long education and training, use their abilities for the benefit of others, locally, nationally and internationally; 3.advocate for the elimination of all discrimination against women, for human rights and the use of gender-sensitive perspectives; 4.  Undertake worldwide networking and cooperation between business and professional women, non-profit projects that help women gain economic dependence, to present the views of business and professional women to international organisations, agencies, businesses, Governments and civil society.

  Its mission statement reads: “BPW develops the professional, business and leadership potential of women on all levels through advocacy, mentoring, networking, skill building and economic empowerment programmes and projects around the world.”

  BPW Concordia President Kathia Magdelaine and the board expressed heartfelt thanks to all those who contributed to the success of the event through attendance or otherwise.

  Special gratitude is extended to the following persons: First Vice-President of the Collectivité Valérie Damaseau, Dr. Erna Mae Cotton from Victorious Living Foundation, BPW Regional Coordinator Bessie Hironimus, Incoming BPW Regional Coordinator Dawn Williams, Past President BPW St. Kitts Dr. Christine Walwyn, Poalo Juarez from BPW Grand Cayman, President of Young BPW Grand Cayman Dr. Alexandra Bodden, SOIL Founder Dr. Rhoda Arrindell, Patricia Jardine-Pieters, Ricky the Fox, Cani TV, Linda Peters, Social worker of LP Professional Ms. Lafleur, Fabienne Chance, United Women Book Club, Melba Wescott, and the Christ Ambassadors Ministries Church.
